Description of the contents of LOCFILES.ZIP, sample home
range data
The files listed below have been archived in LOCFILES.ZIP. After downloading and unzipping
LOCFILES.ZIP, these files may be used to replicate the comparison
of PC software packages in R. P. Larkin and D. Halkin, TWS
Bull. (submitted). The software packages listed in the second
column below are not obtainable from me; some are on Bird
Monitor and contact names and addresses for all are given
in the Larkin and Halkin manuscript.
The files are not large. They all have the same set of
XY (East-North) locations; they differ only in format and
in additional data they may contain. All the .LOC files
are flat ASCII files; the documentation for the packages
listed in the second column describes the fields in the
.LOC files. Each has N=64 locations which are augmented
in some cases by other data. Each record is an exact location
of a small mammal trap in meters.
Daniel Halkin and I thank Ed Heske of the Illinois Natural
History Survey for these sample data and Robert Diehl for
performing the transfer of the files to Bird Monitor.
