BIO_DAP (Gordon Thomas, zip archive, 769 kb, for Windows 3.1/95/98/NT)

Bio-dap calculates diversity indices corresponding to those presented by
A. E. Magurran in "Ecological Diversity and its Measurement" (Princeton
Univ. Press). Calculations include: rarefaction, geometric series, log
series, truncated log normal, broken stick, Q statistic, Shannon diversity
index, Brillouin index, Simpson's index, McIntosh's index, Berger-Parker
index, jack-knifing, Pielou's pooled quadrat, beta diversity, similarity
measures.

Notes on installation:

Unzipping the archive will produce 3 files, the bio-dap
executable (bio-dap.exe) and 2 Visual Basic modules (graph.vbx, grid.vbx)
essential to the program. Your system may already have copies of the vbx
files in c:\windows\system. If so it is probably safe to delete those
unzipped from the archive. (I say "probably" because I'm not sure how
different versions of these files may effect execution of 'bio-dap'.)
If not, it is probably best to copy the vbx files to your machine's 'system'
directory, although this is not necessary provided the vbx files and executable
are in the same directory during execution.

It is advisable to have all the Bio-Dap files be installed in the users own
working directory rather than the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory. However, if upon
doing that you obtain an error message: graph.vbx error - "Need Graphics Server
2.51 or later." it will be necessary to copy the newer version (2.5.1) of
GRAPH.VBX provided with Bio-Dap to your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory.
